Hamilton’s on Main opened last week.

The owners operated a restaurant in Harper’s Ferry, VA, but decided to move to Newark and open a location at the former Catherine Rooney, Finn McCool’s building on Main Street.

The restaurant is open for dinner and plans call for Sunday brunch at the end of the month, according to a social media post.

The owners had their share of headaches that come with restaurant openings and saw the opening delayed by months.

Offerings include a large selection of appetizers, an upscale hamburger, roast chicken, Osso Bucco, and a Wellington (pork in a pastry shell).

Birria comes to downtown Wilmington

I forgot to mention one of the offerings in the newly open taqueria at the DECO food hall in the DuPont-Chemours building in downtown Wilmington.

Taqueria El Chingon is offering Birria tacos. Birria, which is offered at a few other taquerias in the area, comes with a  consomé that is used for dipping.

Birria, which originated in Mexico has rapidly spread East from California.

The taqueria is a venture of the owners of Bardea, a nationally known fine dining spot downtown that is slated to open a steakhouse. A Google post still indicates a February opening.

Fins to add another restaurant

Smitty McGee’s has closed in West Fenwick.

Coastal Point reported Fins Hospitality Group, owners of the Big Oyster Brewery and a couple of seafood spots in Coastal Sussex will take over the space.

The closing came suddenly with social media comments about the status of gift cards that were sold by the restaurant.

Smitty McGree’s operated for three decades and was known for its wings.

A message was sent to Smitty McGee’s seeking comment on the gift card policy.
