Covid update: 13 deaths as hospitalizations total 400

The Tuesday Covid-19b summary from the Delaware Division of Public Health reported 13 deaths – seven residents from Kent County, five from New Castle, and one from Sussex.

They ranged in age from their 60s to their 90s. All 13 had underlying health conditions, and nine were not vaccinated. The death toll now stands at 2,544.

The other numbers

  • 342 new positive cases, bringing the overall total to 248,447. Testing numbers were affected by snow-related closings of testing sites.
  • 7.5% of total tests were positive in the seven-day rolling average, down eight-tenths of a percent from the previous day.
  • 400 current hospitalizations, down 11 from the previous day.
  • 39 individuals in critical condition.
  • 20 new hospital admissions, up 11 from the previous day.
  • 3,529 tests performed daily in the seven-day average, down 3,165 from the previous day.
  • 645,787 people fully vaccinated (up 1,144 from the previous day), according to the CDC Vaccine Tracker.
  • 1,686,890 total vaccine doses, up 6,174 from the previous day, according to the CDC Vaccine Tracker.
