Good afternoon everyone,
The weather edged out Covid-19 when it came to the most-viewed stories on the Delaware Business Now website as of late January.
The top story’s topic was an early January storm that hammered portions of Kent and Sussex counties. A storm over the weekend hit the same areas along with coastal towns like Bethany Beach.
Not far behind, was news of a record number of Covid-19 hospitalizations during the month. Fortunately, the number has declined in the past couple of weeks, although the outbreak, driven by the Omicron variant added to a death toll that is now approaching the population of the town of Bridgeville in Sussex County.
Other top stories included the Cape Gazette, Lewes, remaining under local ownership, Mountaire workers voting out the union at one plant, the Bidens having a New Year’s Eve lunch in Wilmington and Gov. John Carney bringing back mandatory masking after hospitals went above capacity, due to the Omicron-driven surge.
Enjoy your day and watch out for slippery conditions during this slow thaw. – Doug Rainey, chief content officer.
