The Federal Emergency Management Agency reported that 757 grieving Delaware families whose loved ones died from Covid-19 received help with funeral costs.
Eligibility determinations are based on when the applicant submits all required documentation.
A total of 1,077 applications were submitted from Delawareans. A total of 2,286 Covid-related deaths have been recorded in Delaware.
Applicants may apply by calling 844-684-6333 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday. Multilingual services are available. Applications cannot be submitted online.
While payments can be processed as a reimbursement, applicants are not required to pay for funeral expenses before receiving assistance.
Applicants must provide FEMA with a signed funeral home contract, invoice or similar legal documentation that shows the individual incurred Covid-related funeral expenses on or after Jan. 20, 2020.
Some funeral homes will provide assistance in submitting applications.
Overall FEMA provided more than $1.6 billion to more than 247,000 people.
