KIDS Fund, Harvey Hanna sponsoring winter coat delivery parade


The Delaware KIDS Fund, Harvey, Hanna & Associates, and non-profit coat manufacturer Operation Warm will host a coat delivery parade on Thursday, at 10 a.m.  at Richardson Park Elementary School, Newport.

Each student at Richardson Park will receive a brand-new coat as a result of the recent Operation Warm: Newport Delaware KIDS Fund Camping out for Coats campaign.

Leading off with the 76ers “Stixers” drum line band, a fleet of 30 vehicles including fire trucks from Five Points and Minquas Fire Companies (with Santa) and various sponsor vehicles, will travel from Banning Park crossing Middleboro Road into the parking lot of Richardson Park Elementary school.

Each vehicle will unload and present boxes of coats to school administrators and students outside of the school.

The community is invited to join the parade of coats.


  • Thursday, December 9th
  • 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  • DELDOT, New Castle County Police, Newport Police to assist with traffic control
  • Parade travels from entrance of Banning Park to front of Richardson Park Elementary School

The Delaware KIDS Fund Camping out for Coats program is an annual challenge-based fundraising campaign that provides brand new Operation Warm coats for every student at select Delaware schools ahead of the winter season. Since 2017, the annual campout has helped raise over $220,000 to purchase more than  10,400 coats for children at 18 different elementary schools.
