University of Delaware faculty and staff face a January Covid-19 vaccination deadline.

The deadline was extended earlier this month. A previous story did not reflect the change.

The deadline for UD employees to comply with this mandate has now been extended to Jan. 4.

The extension aligns with the announcement made by the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services’ Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

After that date, employment will be terminated.

Exemptions can be given for medical and religious reasons.

Delaware’s largest private employer, ChristianaCare, earlier ordered vaccinations, which led to the termination of about 1% of its employees.

About 83% of those over 18 in Delaware have received at least one dose of vaccine. Anyone between five and 18 years of age can now receive the Pfizer vaccine.
