Last week, the Energy Information Administration reported that the total domestic crude supply increased by 1 million barrels to 435.1 million barrels.

However, according to EIA’s data, the total domestic crude supply is still down 11 percent compared to the previous year at this time, putting price pressure on crude.

“As we settle into earlier darkness, the shorter days could lead to a change for the better when it comes to gas prices,” said Jana Tidwell, spokesperson for AAA Mid-Atlantic. “Drivers may head straight home from work to avoid the darkness rather than tack on side trips for shopping or errands which could slow demand.”

A decline in crude oil prices could cool down inflation that critics are blaming on Biden Administration actions.

On Wednesday, the president asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate why gas prices have not declined significantly as the price of crude went down.
