Kelly named to the Housing Hall of Fame.

Kevin Kelly, a Wilmington-based builder-developer and advocate for affordable housing, was named to the National Housing Hall of Fame.

This is the highest individual honor bestowed by the housing industry.

Kelly is CEO of  Leon N. Weiner & Associates, a developer that operates thousands of affordable apartments in 10 states,. The company has more than 270 employees. The firm was founded by the late Leon Weiner, also a developer of affordable housing.

The award comes as New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer announced on Oct. 4 that $30 million from the federal American Rescue Plan will be invested into the County for affordable housing initiatives that include some of LNWA’s planned projects.

Under Kelly’s leadership, LNWA was also recently selected to redevelop a  property on Main Street in Newark. The Main Street building will provide both affordable and market-rate housing for seniors under one roof.

LNWA has a diverse portfolio of both affordable housing and commercial projects: It has built, developed, and operated more than 14,000 homes, rental properties, and apartments across ten states for people of all income levels. LNWA has also developed more than 650 hotel rooms, with a 90-room Marriott in Middletown slated to open in 2022.

Kelly has served in numerous advocacy positions, including two terms as President of the Home Builders Association of Delaware and on the Federal National Mortgage Association’s (Fannie Mae) Affordable Housing Council.

Zebley

Zebley Realtor of the Year

Beau Zebley has been named the 2021 Delaware Realtor of the Year.
 
The award was presented by Mia Burch, 2021, president of the Delaware Association of Realtors.
 
Zebley has held top leadership positions at the local and state levels, including serving as President of the Kent County Association of Realtors and DAR and as acting CEO of the state association for seven months. 
 
As DAR President in 2020, Beau led the effort to create the DAR Diversity and Inclusion Committee and was instrumental in the association’s work with Gov. Carney’s Administration and the Division of Small Business to ensure the industry had effective working guidelines to serve consumers safely during the early stages of Covid-19.
 
The award honors the Delaware Realtor, whose outstanding service has delivered a positive impact to Realtor organizations on the national, state, and local levels and the real estate industry and community.

  

Navient honored again for board diversity

Wilmington-based Navient, an education loan management, and business processing company, has been recognized as a Champion of Board Diversity by The Forum of Executive Women.

The Forum of Executive Women annually honors the top public companies in the Philadelphia region with 30% or more women on their respective boards. This is the seventh time that Navient has been honored as a Champion of Board Diversity.

“Diversity in the boardroom encourages engagement and challenges assumptions, which we believe is essential to our success,” said Jack Remondi, Navient CEO. “Our board is a reflection of our team whose diverse talents and perspectives come together to deliver positive results for our customers, our employees, and our company.”
