University of Delaware orders indoor mask-wearing

The University of Delaware has ordered indoor mask-wearing.

The order is effective immediately and, with few exceptions, applies to the vaccinated or unvaccinated. According to a UD website post, the order will continue into the beginning of the fall 2021 semester.

The order includes all campus buildings, including classrooms, hallways, laboratories, residence halls, and offices. In addition, students and staff are asked to wear masks outdoors on campus.

In dining areas, masks should be worn except when eating or drinking. A release stated that masks are not required inside an individual student’s residence hall room or floor community.

UD cited the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in making the policy change. The advisory with the appearance of a faster-spreading Delta variant.

As of Aug. 15, individuals on campus who are not vaccinated will be required to take tests once a week.

Visitors are welcome but must follow mask requirements.
