Belfint, Lyons & Shuman promotions

Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A. (BLS), a certified public accounting and consulting firm with offices in Delaware and Pennsylvania, announced 11 promotions.

Marcelo A. Moninigo, CPA, has been promoted to Manager in the firm’s International Services Practice Group. Moninigo earned both his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and his Master in Taxation from Goldey-Beacom College.

Tanner Barretta, CPA, Richard Gledhill, Lai Ming Ho, Jason Knorr, Ryan Patterson, and Charles Riordan have each been promoted to Senior Accountant.

[Not a valid template]Barretta earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from West Chester University and currently resides in Delaware County, PA.

Gledhill graduated with accounting and Finance degrees from Rowan University.

Ho is a graduate of the University of Delaware where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and has passed all parts of the CPA exam.

Knorr earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Stockton University.

Patterson is a graduate of Goldey-Beacom College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

 Riordan is a graduate of the University of Delaware, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Amanda Cox has been promoted to Staff II Accountant. She is a graduate of Bob Jones University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Rachel Mulderrig has been promoted to Staff II Accountant. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Delaware.

Andrew Treon joined the firm as an intern in the summer of 2019 and continued as a full-time team member in 2020. He is a graduate of West Chester University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with a minor in Applied Statistics.

Charles Jenkins has been promoted to Bookkeeper II. He is certified in QuickBooks and works in many other bookkeeping programs.

Santora CPA Group names senior accountant

Santora CPA Group announced  that Jake Musser, CPA, has been promoted to Senior Accountant.  He joined the firm in August 2018 after interning during the summer of 2017. 

He is a 2018 graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with a minor in Management Information Systems.  

Bancroft Construction names project manager

Matt McNicoll has been promoted to Project Manager at Bancroft Construction, Wilmington. McNicoll joined Bancroft in February of 2017 as an Assistant Project Manager. He has experience with local engineering firms, special inspections, and serving as a part-time instructor for Delaware Technical Community College  Civil Engineering Technology Program.

Botanic Gardens names new board and advisory council members

Delaware Botanic Gardens announced the election of four new members to the DBG Board of Directors and a new member of the Advisory Council.

Karen Steenhoudt has been a volunteer at DBG since 2018. She contributed to the design and building of the Inland Dunes Habitat Garden and the Living Shoreline Conservation Project at DBG. She holds a BS/MS in Bio-engineering, and MS degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Engineering from Temple University.

Alison Willocks has been a volunteer at DBG since 2018. She is the administrator of the DBG “Volgistics” computer program that tracks volunteer hours of service and is a docent trainer for the DBG “Point-of-Sale” system. Alison has 22 years of experience in SAP Business System Design, Configuration, and Leadership for large organizations. 

Todd Fritchman has 28-years of experience as a Biologist/Environmental Consultant and Biology Teacher. He is CEO of Envirotech Environmental Consulting, Lewes. DE. His company was the prime designer- contractor building the DBG “Wetlands Outdoor Classroom” as part of the Dogfish Head Learning Garden in 2018.

Ryan Revel is a Sussex Central High School Science Teacher and was the coordinator of the 2018 visit to DBG for Sussex Central High School Juniors in the International Baccalaureate Science Program.

Dr. Marianne Walch is a new DBG Advisory Council Member. Walch has 35-years of environmental research experience in non-profit, academic, federal, and state government positions.

Deputy Delaware CIO named.

Delaware’s State Chief Information Officer (CIO) Jason Clarke announced that the Department of Technology and Information’s (DTI) former Deputy Attorney General Aleine Cohen will be joining the Office of the CIO as Deputy CIO.

Cohen is an alumna of Fordham University and the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law.  

Beau Biden Foundation board members appointed

The Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors, Viola Vaughan-Eden and Michelle D. Shepherd. The addition of Vaughan-Eden and Shepherd brings the number of board members to 10.

Vaughan-Eden is a clinical and forensic social worker who serves as a consultant and expert witness in child maltreatment cases – principally sexual abuse.  She is Associate Professor and Ph.D. Program Director with The Ethelyn R. Strong School of Social Work at Norfolk State University.

Shepherd is an independent consultant working in the financial services industry and will serve as the Beau Biden Foundation’s Board Treasurer. Shepherd retired from Bank of America as the company’s East Division Executive in 2008.

Bayhealth adds maternal-fetal medicine specialist

Bayhealth, Dover,  announced the addition of Peter Konchak to the Bayhealth Maternal-Fetal Medicine practice. Konchak joins Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physicians.

Konchak is a graduate of Des Moines University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Surgery in Iowa did his residency at Lansing General Hospital in Michigan and completed fellowship training at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont through the University of Vermont.

He is an experienced clinician and educator, having served as a professor in various medical schools and residency programs at Michigan State University, University of Vermont, University of NewEngland, and Rowan University. 

Swisher-McClure joins Beebe Healthcare.

Samuel Swisher-McClure, MD, recently joined Delmarva Radiation Services and Beebe Healthcare as a new Radiation Oncologist. 

 Swisher-McClure graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2007. where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his residency training in Radiation Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was selected as Chief Resident in 2012.

He then worked as an Assistant Professor and Attending Physician for the Department of Radiation Oncology at Penn Medicine in Philadelphia from 2012-2021. Dr. Swisher-McClure served as the residency training Program Director for Penn Medicine’s Department of Radiation Oncology from 2013-2020.

He was board certified by the American Board of Radiology in radiation oncology in 2013.

Land Trust announces board member

The Sussex County Land Trust, a non-profit conservation organization, announced the appointment of a new board member, Jason King. King  graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelors’s in History.

Sussex County library head appointed.

Sussex County County Council appointed Rachel T. Lynch as the next director of the Sussex County Department of Libraries. Lynch, currently serving as Assistant County Librarian, will take over for retiring director Kathy M. Graybeal.

Lynch holds a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Tennessee.

 Hitch appointed as Justice of the Peace  Administrator

Mark E. Hitch has been named Court Administrator for the Delaware Justice of the Peace Court starting on Aug. 2. He replaces Marianne Kennedy, who retired from the Court on July 30, 2021, after more than 21 years with  Delaware Courts.

Hitch received his BA in criminal justice from the University of Delaware and received training at the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy in Quantico, VA, and the JFK School of Government at Harvard University.

The Delaware Restaurant Association named  Nicole Alvarez as  Director of Government Affairs.

This newly created position will serve as the liaison between Delaware elected officials at both local and state levels and Delaware’s restaurant community. 

She will work closely with the DRA’s executive team, local leaders, and elected officials to help shape and communicate the Association’s advocacy strategy policies in the areas of workforce development, education, health and safety, and small business.  

Paul’s Cullen-ary names executive director

Paul Cullen, the founder of Paul’s Cullen-ary Company, recently announced that Anna Burkholder was named executive director of his new All Access VIP Club, a members-only initiative that offers discounts and other perks.

  Burkholder will be responsible for the club’s administration and communication with the members. Prior to joining Pauls’ Cullen-ary Company, she was a communication associate with the American Farm Bureau Federation in Washington, D.C.
