President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden are spending a long weekend at their home in Greenville.
Biden arrived on Friday afternoon.
Earlier signs pointed to a visit to his home near Rehoboth Beach, perhaps for the traditional August presidential vacation. WRDE reported that an area around a state park parking lot used as a helicopter landing site was temporarily closed off. The area was open on Friday.
The Cape Gazette reported earlier in the week that signs pointed to Biden paying a visit to the North Shores home.
VIP flight restrictions are in place in northern Delaware into Monday.
On Monday, Biden signed an executive order placing restrictions on Belarus and officials due to its human rights stance. The longtime strongman ordered a crackdown tht included a commercial jet being forced to land, with a dissident taken away.
Biden also issued a statement praising the Pentagon for order vaccinations for the military.
Visits by the Bidens Rehoboth have not been universally praised in neighboring Ocean City, MD. due in part to flight restrictions for private aircraft. That includes planes flying advertising banners aimed at beach-goers.
The northern Delaware motorcade results in brief delays in and around the airport along Route 141, leading to a flurry of social media comments from critics of the president and some of his supporters.
Before leaving for Delaware, Biden praised better-than-expected July job numbers but cautioned that the surge of Covid 19-cases driven by the faster-spreading Delta variant posed a threat to the economy.
During the week, large corporations delayed back to the office timetables, and more employers added mask mandates for employees.
Of late, the president has been spending alternate weekends at his Delaware home and the Presidential retreat at Camp David.
The White House Press Secretary said Monday Biden will return to the White House this week but also plans to travel to either the Rehoboth Beach home or the presidential retreat at Camp David in the Maryland mountains.
The Delaware visits help fill hotel rooms on the Wilmington Riverfront with traveling media and presidential staff members.

On Saturday, the schedule indicated that Biden golfed with Ron Olivere, father-in-law of his late son and Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden.
The President and First Lady later attended services at St. Joseph on the Brandywine and met virtually early Saturday night with the U.S. Olympic Team members.
No events were listed on Sunday, with the daily briefing scheduled for Monday morning.
