The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) and Delaware Electric Cooperative advise businesses and residents to keep track of Tropical Storm Elsa’s possible path up the East Coast.

The member-owned utility and DEMA issued social media posts today on the storm’s possible path, as did numerous weather websites.

Delaware Electric serves a large section of Kent and Sussex counties. Other areas in the two counties are served by Delmarva Power and municipally owned electric utilities.

Tropical storms and hurricanes are notorious for changing their paths, leading some people to discount advisories.

Both DEMA and Delaware Electric advised those who could be affected to prepare for the storm, an advisory that is always issued during hurricane season.

Tropical storms and tornadoes can cause widespread damage, often from heavy rainfall and tornadoes spun off from the system.
