President Joe Biden returned to Washington, D.C. after a weekend visit to Delaware.

The president arrived at New Castle Airport at 9:40 p.m. Friday after attending a campaign event for Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe.

The Bidens typically use the Marine One helicopter for the hour-long trip. This time around, First Lady Jill Biden was in Tokyo for the opening ceremony of the 2021 Olympics.

The President spent Saturday playing golf a Fieldstone, attending mass, and having dinner with sister and long-time advisor Valerie Biden Owens.

He returned  to the White House late Sunday night.

The Bidens always spend weekends away from the White House. The previous weekend was spent at Camp David in the Maryland mountains.

The First Couple has only visited their summer home near Rehoboth Beach once since his nomination.

The visits typically result in brief traffic stoppages. However, the visits also provide a modest boost to the northern Delaware economy as staff and press book hotel rooms in nearby Wilmington.
