The Bear Drive-In will open Friday with two first-run movies but will not have online ticket sales on its first nights.

A social media  message from the theater offered the following:

  •  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will feature  F9 (Fast and Furious)  and Disney’s Jungle Cruise.
  • Tickets for this opening weekend will not be sold online. Instead, tickets will be sold upon arrival and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. When each lot is full, gates will close.
  • Parking will not begin any sooner than 7 p.m.
  • Showtimes will always be at dusk.

The Facebook post asked those interested in reading comments on the page rather than sending direct messages with questions.

The opening of the “pop up” drive-in theater “went viral” in northern Delaware after Bob Weir posted information on his Facebook page that his friends quickly shared.

The theater is completely portable,  using white shipping containers from Newark-based  Schneider Trailer and Container that serve as a concession stand and a backdrop for the two screens.

The twin-screen theater will not show double features, with one showing each night.

Admission ranges between $11 and $15 per person, with each adult or child getting a free soft drink and popcorn.
