Former U.S. District Attorney Carl Schnee, 85

Services will be held today for Wilmington lawyer Carl Schnee who died late last month at 85.

Schnee served as U.S. District Attorney during the administration of President Bill Clinton.

A native of Philadelphia, he graduated from the Villanova School of Law and earned a master’s degree from the University of Delaware.

Before and after his tenure as U.S. District Attorney, he joined several law firms, with an 18-year stint as a partner and later managing partner at Prickett, Jones, Elliott, and Schnee.

Schnee was active in community affairs and was the recipient of many awards. In addition, he taught and was a student at the University of Delaware’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Wilmington.

Schnee is survived by his wife Doris, of 62 years; his children Michael, of Wilmington; Paul (Amy), Brooklyn, NY; and Linda (Martin), of Takoma Park, MD. He is also survived by sister Judy Arsht of Santa Barbara, CA, and three grandchildren.
