Private services are planned for long-time Delaware public affairs executive and lobbyist Deborah “Debbie” Alford Hamilton.
Hamilton died unexpectedly at age 67.
A native of Wilmington and a University of Delaware grad, Hamilton worked in state government and as a corporate public information and public affairs executive for Texaco.
As a lobbyist, Hamilton was a pioneer in what had been a male-dominated field.
In recent years, she was a partner in a public affairs firm with Delaware attorney Lisa Goodman.
Hamilton’s work included advocating for anti-tobacco legislation, animal welfare, and women’s healthcare rights.
