Cecil County Executive Danielle Hornberger issued an executive order banning vaccine passports in county government buildings and strongly advised businesses not to check vaccination records.

The first-term  Republican County Executive cited privacy reasons for the largely symbolic ban.

There have been few if any cases of government units or businesses requiring proof of vaccinations. Nevertheless, Republican legislatures have passed similar measures citing threats to personal freedom.

“While I encourage Cecil residents to get the Covid-19 vaccine, I understand that some residents will opt out due to a religious objection, a health concern, and/or personal reasons,” stated  Hornberger. “These residents have every right to live their life freely, and all Cecil residents have the right to keep their medical information private.”

The order strongly encourages all businesses in Cecil County to and forbid the use of a vaccine passport.
