Three people were shot, one fatally, during a large party in a subdivision in the Bear-Christiana area early Sunday morning.
New Castle County Police officers were dispatched to the area of Louis Court, in the community of Salem Woods for a report of shots fired.
This incident occurred during a large party that was taking place at a residence on the street. When the officers arrived, they found three gunshot victims.

The officers and paramedics administered first aid to the victims. One 22-year-old male was pronounced dead. A second victim, a 17-year-old male, was struck by gunfire multiple times and was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The third victim, a 19-year-old male, was also transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound and was also listed in stable condition.
The investigation has revealed so far that there were a significant number of people on the street who may have witnessed and/or videoed an altercation leading up to the shooting.
Police said an active and ongoing investigation continues, with future updates to follow.
The shootings come after a mass shooting in southern New Jersey left three people dead and became national news.
