New Castle County ends Covid testing program.

New Castle County is ending its Covid-19 testing program.
County Executive Matt Meyer said the rate of positive cases has dropped as vaccinations continue to increase. Meyer says the state has adequate testing capacity without a county presence.
Delaware Emergency Management Director A.J. Schall reported a marked decline in the number of tests.
The county’s testing program was an outgrowth of the $300 million it received in the original CARES Act.
The county also pioneered a wastewater testing program for Covid that is now viewed as a good way to know the overall presence of the virus in the community.
The testing program was used in the placement of Covid testing sites by the county, which employed members of its paramedic service and others in operating the sites.
Meyer urged county residents to get vaccinated the supply of doses increases, with residents able to use walk-up sites.
