The Delaware court system will move to Phase 3, effective in early June under an order signed by Chief Justice Collins J. Seitz, Jr.

Phase 2 will be lifted on June 1 for Phase 3, which will allow the resumption of jury trials along with the easing of some other pandemic-related restrictions.

This order also sets in motion behind-the-scenes work by court staff to prepare for the resumption of jury trials to include things like sending out jury summonses and working out the calendars with the Department of Justice and defense attorneys, as well as coordinating with the Department of Correction to resume the transfer of those who are incarcerated to courthouses for proceedings.

Changes in place include the installation of “jury pods” in a number of courtrooms for health and safety.
