Good afternoon,
With the Colonial Pipeline cyberattack dominating the headlines, it’s a good time to get a refresher on cybersecurity “hygiene.”
As this piece was being written Colonial Pipeline issued a statement indicating that it plans to phase in operations. by the end of the week. Axios reported the FBI has linked the attack to a group known as Darkside
The Colonial pipeline supplies 45 percent of the gasoline in the region and the attack has already boosted gas prices.
The incident is at the top of the agenda of the Biden Administration, which has been blamed for a recent uptick in gas prices. It’s something every president endures from time to time, even though occupants of the White House have little control over the price of fuel.
Nearly 2,500 miles away in northern California (my temporary home base) gas prices shot up by a dime.
Tomorrow, the CyberSecure My Business team and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) will offer a webinar to ensure that “your business has security hygiene at the top of its priority list.”
Sponsors say the webinar will explore how putting a priority on hygiene affects your business and how CISA’s updated Cyber Essentials toolkit can help.
You can also brush up on CISA’s Cyber Essentials with this five-minute video. Click here to register for the seminar.
