Kanefsky named new CEO of Food Bank

Cathy Kanefsky has been named the  next President and CEO of the Food Bank of Delaware.

Kanefsky  brings to the role nearly 30 years of experience in the nonprofit space. She  has served as the Chief Development Officer at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children; Vice President, Chapter Development at Autism Speaks, Inc.; National Director of Family Team Development for the March of Dimes Foundation; and Executive Director for the March of Dimes in Delaware.

[Not a valid template]Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Food Bank of Delaware has experienced increases in demand for services. Over the past year, the organization has distributed more than 18 million pounds of food.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve as the next President and CEO of the Food Bank of Delaware,” said Kanefsky. “I have spent my entire career serving mission-focused organizations that provide hope. The mission of the Food Bank grabs my heart. This past year has brought uncertainty to many Delawareans, perhaps for the first time. I am beyond impressed by the way the Food Bank of Delaware has responded in a time of heightened crisis. I am excited to leverage my experience as a leader to maximize the strengths of the Food Bank of Delaware. The idea of a community free of hunger is powerful. I am energized to know I can play a part in making that vision a reality.”

Kanefsky succeeds long-time CEO Patricia Beebe who abruptly resigned at the onset of the pandemic  in 2020. Reasons for the departure have never been disclosed.

Patton named vice president of construction as SoDel expands

Matt Patton  was named  vice president of construction for SoDel Concepts, Rehoboth Beach.

The Columbia, SC, native was previously director of operations for SoDel Concepts, a hospitality company with 12 restaurants in coastal Delaware.  He  will continue to oversee the group’s beer program.

“Matt was instrumental in the planning, building and opening of our last three restaurants, including Thompson Island Brewing Company and Bluecoast Seafood Grill in Rehoboth Beach,” Kammerer said. “As we grow, we value his experience, leadership and business skills.”

Patton will  oversee the renovation of the former Ropewalk building on Coastal Highway in Fenwick, which will become Matt’s Fish Camp Fenwick. It will be the third Matt’s Fish Camp at the beach. The other two are in Bethany Beach and Lewes.

Patton will also supervise the construction of Ocean View Brewing Company in Ocean View.

“It is part of our mission to help our team members grow professionally and personally,” SoDel President Scott Kammerer said. “Matt is a great example. At the same time, we’re also looking to bring more ambitious people into the company.”

With the opening of the two restaurants, there will be plenty of job opportunities, he noted. The company will also hire a vice president of operations, two additional directors of operations, a corporate chef and three general managers and executive chefs.

Two associates join, Bassett, Dawson and Foy

Bassett, Dawson and Foy, Inc. welcomed new associates, Tim O’Leary and Adam Dorosky.

Tim will be assuming the role of Wealth Manager and brings with him over 20-years of experience from the Asset Management industry.  He holds a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Towson University, and is a graduate of Archmere Academy. In his prior roles, he worked alongside Financial Advisors and Wealth Managers, educating them on market trends and investment solutions.  He will be joining the team led by Brad Foy, executive vice president of Bassett, Dawson, & Foy, where he will be focused on Asset Management relationships, as well as client relationships. 

Adam will be assuming the role of Client Service Associate.  He joins the team led by Fred Dawson, president  of Bassett, Dawson & Foy, and brings with him 15-years of  real estate sales experience in addition to a diverse banking background.

In 2020 the company celebrated 35  years of serving high-net worth clients with their financial planning, retirement, investment and life insurance needs. 

Carvertise adds Fuscaldo as Philly sales chief

Carvertise, Inc., Wilmington,  announced the hiring of Anthony Fuscaldo as the Director of Sales for Philadelphia. 

Anthony will focus on expanding Carvertise’s   presence across Philadelphia and the U.S., building brand awareness and recognition through a diversified list of clients and agencies.  With   sales background in radio and the out-of-home (transit, sign advertising)  industry over the last two decades, Anthony comes to Carvertise most recently from Intersection Co., where he was responsible for new business, account growth and large scale sponsorships.  Formerly, he was the Senior Vice President of Sales for iHeartMedia where he oversaw all revenue streams for iHeartMedia’s Philadelphia radio cluster.

“Anthony’s background and expertise in radio and out-of-home advertising will be a boon to the growth of the rideshare advertising industry,” said VP of Sales, Jim Fischer.  “He’s a perfect fit to help build upon our rapidly expanding footprint and further our mission of dominating the streets,” added Fischer.

Whisman Giordano hires senior accountant

Whisman Giordano & Associates, LLC, Newark, announced the hiring of Senior Accountant Emily Robb, CPA. 

Emily comes to Whisman Giordano with over 20 years of experience. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham undergraduate and graduate programs where she earned her Master of Accountancy. 

Emily, a resident of Alabama, joined us through The Mom Project. The Mom Project is an organization “committed to helping women remain active in the workforce in every stage of their journey,” as stated on their website, themomproject.com. Emily shared, “I am so happy to join the Whisman Giordano team. Even though I am a bit of a distance away, everything I need to serve our clients is in place, so it feels like there’s no distance at all. It really is the best of both worlds. “

Wohlsen promotes UD grad Herrman to project director

Wohlsen Construction Company announce sthe promotion of Erik Herrman from Project Manager to Director of Project Planning and Scheduling. In his new role, Erik will play a central role in the development, update, management, and reporting of project schedules across all regions. He will be responsible for the continued improvement of Wohlsen’s construction scheduling strategy.

 Erik graduated from the University of Delaware in 2013, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education, Agriculture, and Natural Resources with a minor in Engineering Technology and a concentration in Construction Technology. In 2015 Erik joined Wohlsen as a project engineer.

 Wohlsen Construction Company, founded in 1890, provides construction management, general contracting and design/build services to clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Regions.
