Updated Laurel dad & son indicted on charges related to storming of Capitol

A father and son from Laurel have been  indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to the storming of. the U.S. Capitol.

Kevin Seefried and his son Hunter Seefried each  face eight  charges related to the storming of the Capitol including obstruction, picketing, entering restricted property and disorderly conduct.

The elder Seefried became a symbol of the riot  when he was photographed  carrying a Confederate Flag that according to his statement  had been flown  in front of his home.

The younger Seefried was reported to authorities after speaking with co-workers about being part of a mob  that aimed to overturn the certification of Delawarean Joe Biden as president. The two men are accused of entering the building by breaking a window.

The Seefrieds  are among hundreds of people who face charges related to the riot that left one member of Capitol Police dead.

Prison time, if convicted,  can range from six months to 10 years. Sentencing guidelines often lead to shorter stints in prison.
