Bancroft Construction Co. founder Stephen Mockbee, of Chadds Ford, PA, died over the weekend..

Under Mockbee,  a graduate of the University of Delaware, the Wilmington-based  contractor grew from a two-person company, into one of Delaware’s largest construction management firms with a track record in industrial and commercial projects. The company now has offices in three states. Bancroft  also operates  a custom home-building business.

Bancroft’s  recent work included the buildings on the University of Delaware STAR Campus.

Bancroft  issued the following statement on social media:  “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our founder, Stephen M. Mockbee. To those who knew Stephen he was a colleague, friend, husband, father, leader, and mentor. To us at Bancroft he is an unfailing reminder of all things positive, caring, supportive, energetic, and remarkable. Under Stephen’s leadership, anything was possible.  Without his vision, we would not be where we are today.”
