Covid dashboard: 8 new deaths as daily cases remain above 300

The number of daily Covid-19 cases remained above 300 with eight new deaths reported, all the result of a review of Vital Statistics records, the Delaware Division of Public Health reported on Monday.
 
All who died were from New Castle County and ranged in age from their 60s to their 90s. Four were residents of long-term care facilities. The deaths increased Delaware’s total number of Covid-related deaths at 1,552.

A total of  343 new positive cases were reported  bringing the overall total to 94,402. Cases have remained above 300 in recent days after briefly falling below 200. The average number of daily cases had been in the 700s during a period during the past winter.

A total of 115 current hospitalizations were reported,  down 13 from the previous day. This included 18 individuals in critical condition, up slightly from the previous low.
 
The CovidActNow dashboard  ranks   Delaware as “very high risk” for its  growth in new cases. Pennsylvania and New Jersey are also in the same category. Maryland is in the high category.
 
 Delaware had been  listed as “high.” The dashboard has no states in the “extreme risk category.
