Delaware remained 50th in a listing of  Payroll Protection Program loan approvals.

Figures from the Small Business Administration for the period ending Feb. 7, showed Delaware at the bottom of a list of 50 states in both the number of loans and the dollar value.

South Dakota – a state with an estimated population of 858,000 versus 975,000 in Delaware –  recorded more than  13,800 loan approvals. The First State was ended up just short of 2,800 approvals with a total value of $287,878,321

In the first round of PPP loans last year, Delaware got off to a slow start, but posted a strong final performance with 11,427 loans  with total volume at $1,455,089,694. 

Under the Payroll Protection Act, loans can be forgiven if the company or nonprofit retains jobs.
