Cecil County confirms frontline health workers, nursing homes getting vaccinations

The Cecil County Health Department, working with with ChristianaCare Union Hospital and the Cecil County Department of Emergency Services, is now vaccinating Priority Group 1A.

Group 1A in Maryland as well as in nearby Delaware, includes healthcare workers, first responders, and residents and staff of long-term care facilities.

Delaware did move people over 65 into Group 1b, but like Maryland has limited supplies of vaccine that requires two doses. Based on dosages on hand  about two percent of the population could be fully vaccinated.

State government officials have expressed concern about the slow rollout of vaccines, especially with the current surge in cases.

The Cecil County Health Department issued the following:

“Unfortunately, we do not yet know when the vaccine will become available to the next priority groups but will provide that information as soon as it becomes available. Please check our website and social media platforms regularly for updates. More information about the priority groups can be found at: https://covidlink.maryland.gov/content/vaccine/
