Discount grocer Aldi will open a location on Coastal Highway outside Rehoboth Beach.

“We are excited to confirm we are planning to open our first Aldi store in Rehoboth Beach,” stated Jeff Baehr, Aldi Frederick Division Vice President.

The Cape Gazette reported the store will occupy space at the former Kmart location on Coastal Highway. The former discount store site, in a strategic location near Rehoboth and the outlets, has been divided into smaller store spaces.

The company stated that more details will be released at a later date.

Aldi operates smaller grocery stores with private label merchandise and discount prices.

The privately held German company has more than 11,000 stores in 20 countries.

When the store opens, it will be the sixth location for Aldi, which has locations in all three Delaware counties.
