The Delaware Department of Labor issued the following after President Donald Trump signed the latest Covid-19 Relief bill. The bill extends certain federal unemployment benefits available under the CARES Act.

The bill extends the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program (PUA) and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation program (PEUC). No guidance has yet been issued on implementing the extension of the PUA and PEUC programs.

The Labor Department confirmed that callers are seeing longer waits on phone calls. Some jobless benefits expired during the holiday period.

Phone traffic to the department has been heavy since the onset of the pandemic.

Below is the statement:

The Delaware Department of Labor is actively working to implement the new law provisions, which includes a $300 per week benefit provided by the Federal Pandemic Unemployment program (FPUC). At this time, there is no additional information regarding the program’s implementation.

If you’re currently filing traditional Unemployment Insurance benefits or receiving benefits through PUA and PEUC, it is critical that you file your weekly certifications to minimize any potential disruptions to your benefits.
