Covid-19 update & dashboard: 1 new death, 593 new positive cases

Delaware recorded one Covid-19 death in its Sunday report. It came after eight deaths in the Saturday report.
 
A  91-year-old from New Castle County who had underlying health conditions and was a resident of a long-term care facility was the latest Covid-19-related death. The total number of COVID-related deaths now stands at   816.
 
A total of   593 new positive cases were reported after more than 900 cases were reported a day earlier.
 
The percentage of people testing positive was  22.2, under a seven-day rolling average, down four-tenths from the previous day.
 
When it came to the percentage of positive tests to total tests, the figure was  9.4 percent in the 7-day rolling average down two-tenths of a percent from the previous day.
 
The percentage of total tests to positive tests takes into account people who have been tested more than once.
 
Hospitalizations were 357, up 9 from the previous day, including 55 individuals in critical condition. New hospital admissions were 40, down six from the previous day.
 
The information was gathered on Saturday night, according to the Delaware Division of Public Health
 
Those who died ranged in age from their 70s to their 90s and all had underlying health conditions. Two individuals were residents of long-term care facilities.
 
The deaths increased Delaware’s total number of  Covid-19 related deaths to 815.
 
Delaware also recorded more than 1,000 positive cases for the first time since the pandemic began, with 1,090 cases reported. The previous record was 925 on Dec. 8.
 
The percentage of people who tested positive was 22.6 percent in the 7-day rolling average, down two-tenths of a percent from the previous day.
 
Of total tests, 9.6 percent were positive in the seven-day rolling average, up one-tenth of a percent from the previous day.
 
Hospitalizations totaled 348, down 15 from the previous day. A total of 52 individuals were in critical condition. The record number of people  in critical condition was 71 in April.
