Covid-19 dashboard: 10 new deaths as hospitalizations increase by 3 in Delaware

Ten new deaths were reported in Wednesday’s coronavirus report from the Delaware Division of Public Health.
 
The figures were based on information from Monday  night.
 
Of those who died, six were from New Castle County, with two each from Kent and Sussex counties. They ranged in age from their 60s to their 90s, and all had underlying health conditions. Three individuals were residents of long-term care facilities. The deaths increased Delaware’s total number of COVID-related toll to 826.
 
Hospitalizations increased to 376, up to three from the previous day. The state is seeing a record number of hospitalizations. Sixty-two people are in critical condition, below the record figure of 71. Forty-one new hospital admissions were reported, down four from the previous day).
 
Hospital capacity for Covid-19 patients ranges between 400 and 500. Hospitals have been using assisted care facilities for patients who do not need full hospitalization as a way to free up space.
 
The percentage of people testing positive was 22.6  in a seven-day rolling average, up one-tenth of a percent from the previous day. The percentage of positive tests to total tests was  9.6 percent in a seven-day rolling average, down one-tenth of a percent from the previous day.
 
The percentage of positive tests to total tests considers people who have been tested more than once.
