Bassett retires, Dawson named president of Bassett, Dawson, and Foy.

Bassett, Dawson, and Foy, Inc., located near Wilmington, congratulated Joseph M. Bassett on his retirement in October. 

Bassett served as President since the founding of the company in 1985. 

Fred Dawson has been named President.  He has over 38 years of wealth management experience and is one of Bassett, Dawson, and Foy’s founding principal partners.

Brad Foy has been named Executive Vice President, and Brian Dawson has been named Branch Manager in addition to his current role as Vice President of Operations. The company is marking 35 years of serving high-net-worth clients with financial planning, retirement, investment, and life insurance services.

Artesian names Finch, treasurer, SVP

The Board of Directors of Artesian Resources Corporation, Newark, announced that Jennifer L. Finch, CPA, was named Corporate Treasurer and Senior Vice President of Finance.  Finch joined Artesian in 2008 as Chief Accounting Officer. In 2010, she was appointed Assistant Treasurer and Vice President of Finance. She has over 30 years of accounting, auditing, and tax experience, both in public practice and private industry. 

 State Treasurer to chair committee

The incoming President of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) has named Delaware State Treasurer Colleen Davis as Chair of NASTS’s Banking and Cash Management Committee. Previously the Vice-Chair, Davis, will lead the committee to recommend policy for NAST and develop educational content for NAST conferences and webinars.

Medical Society of Delaware elects president

Matthew J. Burday, DO, an internal medicine hospitalist with ChristianaCare, was elected the 177th President of the Medical Society of Delaware (MSD) for 2021 during the organization’s 231st Annual Meeting. Burday, a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine, is also the Director of Medical Student Education at ChristianaCare in Newark.

Delaware College Scholars names Bonner program director

Delaware College Scholars (DCS) welcomed Jordan Bonner as Program Director and Community Liaison. Jordan, who received his master’s degree in psychology and education

this spring, from the University of Cambridge in England, will be responsible for developing community partnerships on behalf of DCS and directing the program’s three-week summer residential portion. Additionally, he will serve as a resource for the freshman and sophomore college students, providing them personalized academic and financial advice throughout their college experience.

Blue Coats name Jameer Nelson as assistant GM

Jameer Nelson is the news Assistant General Manager of the Blue Coats. He will also serve as a 76ers scout.

Nelson is a former National Player of the Year at Saint Joseph’s University and has 14 seasons’ worth of NBA playing experience. In 878 career games, the bulk of which was played with the Orlando Magic, he averaged 11.3 points and 5.1 assists.

Nelson was an All-Star during the 2008-09 campaign, during which Orlando reached the NBA Finals for just the second time in franchise history.

Nelson will assist Blue Coats GM Matt Lilly in overseeing all aspects of basketball operations in Delaware. That includes supporting strategy around roster-building at the G League level, in addition to providing expertise to the 76ers’ scouting efforts.

Delaware State Police promote Crotty to major

The Delaware State Police Superintendent, Colonel Melissa A. Zebley, announces the promotion of Captain William Crotty to the rank of Major.

Crotty earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Delaware. He is a graduate of the Naval Post Graduate Fusion Center Leaders Program and attended the 248th Session of the (FBI) National Academy.

Tam named to Council of Regents of hospital executive group.

David A. Tam, MD, MBA, FACHE, President & CEO, Beebe Healthcare, has been appointed to the Council of Regents, the American College of Healthcare Executives’ legislative body.

The Council of Regents serves as the vital link between ACHE and members by approving governance and membership regulations and promoting programs, services, and activities within their respective areas.

Tam will take office on March 20, 2021. As a Regent, he will represent ACHE’s membership in Delaware.
