UD sees record number of weekly Covid-19 cases

The University of Delaware saw a record number of Covid 19 cases last week.

Halloween parties and other get-togethers have been blamed for the uptick in cases that came after the number of positive tests had dropped below 30.

UD has been disciplining students cited for attending the events. Penalties can include suspensions and expulsions.

UD is planning for increased occupancy of dorm space and more in-person instruction in the spring semester.

After the Thanksgiving break UD classes will be moving to an all-virtual format until the end of the semester.

UD has fared better than many larger universities, which in some cases have seen thousands testing positive.

Delaware has seen a surge in coronavirus cases, with the 19711 zip code, which includes much of the UD community, reporting an uptick in cases, after being quiet until recently.
