A study of Delaware poll workers by the federal  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that workers and voters largely followed protocols on mask-wearing and social distancing.

The study was done in collaboration with the Delaware Division of Public Health and the Delaware Department of Elections.

Poll workers were found to have been aware of the measures needed to reduce the spread of coronavirus. Instances of improper mask use (mask not over the nose) were reported.

It was also found that additional personal protection equipment will be needed as the Nov. 4th general election is held. The study included a report of a polling place running out of hand sanitizer.

The CDC and other agencies have been concerned about in-person voting, due to the use of indoor space, lines, and the high average age of poll workers.

Delaware does not require masks at the polls. Such a requirement could raise constitutional questions and risk confrontations.

Delaware has largely moved to mail-in voting with all registered voters receiving ballots.  An effort by Republicans to convert the state to absentee voting was rejected in Chancery Court. Absentee voting requires that voters request a ballot

The Trump administration has complained that mail-in voting is subject to fraud, although election officials say safeguards are in place.

Ballots were mailed out in the primary and general elections in Delaware to registered voters.
