Fire service leader, business owner Mike Rush dies


Businessman and volunteer fire service leader Edward “Mike Rush” has died. 

He was president of Rush Uniform, Inc., a company established by his father in 1963.

Rush was a charter member of the Better Business Bureau Serving Delaware and served on its board of directors and executive committee for several decades.

Upon the passing of Mike’s dad, BBB established the Edward M. Rush Sr. Memorial Award in 1993 to honor his memory.  The award honors family-owned businesses that set high standards.

Mike Rush chaired this award in its 27th year and annually and played a  key role in researching and selecting the winning family, the BBB reported.


Rush was Deputy Chief Emeritus and 50-year Life Member of the Wilmington Manor Fire Co.

He was also an active member of the Christiana Fire Company and an honorary member of others.
