A spokesman for the Delaware Attorney General’s office confirmed that state authorities turned over a computer cited in a controversial New York Post story to the FBI.

“In light of ongoing questions about the credibility of these claims and multiple reports that the FBI is investigating their veracity, law enforcement is referring this matter to the FBI,” Delaware Justice Department spokesman, Matt Marshall stated.

The FBI, as is typical in ongoing investigations, did not comment.

DelawareOnline reported earlier that former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani turned over the computer to New Castle County Police.

Guiliani has been leading an effort to find “pay to play” ties between the Biden family and a Ukrainian gas company where Hunter Biden served on its board for a time.

Marshall confirmed the News Journal’s account of the FBI taking possession of the Apple Macintosh laptop after it was dropped off to New Castle County Police.

The Post story centered on a laptop that ended up at the MacShop in the Trolley Square neighborhood in Wilmington and outside the jurisdiction of  County Police.

Shop owner John Paul Mac Issac, according to media reports, discussed the matter with the reporters and gave varied statements regarding how he came into possession and discovered the contents of the hard drive.  Issac, who has limited vision, said he could not verify if Hunter Biden visited the business.

Questions regarding the accuracy of the story led to Facebook initially limiting the distribution of the story, a move that drew fire from Biden critics.

Reports also emerged regarding members of staff of the Post not believing details had not been adequately checked out.

On Tuesday, it was reported that 50 former intelligence officials signed a letter indicating that the purported contents of the hard drive were reminiscent  of a Russian disinformation campaign that can blend authentic  and manufactured information. Among the signers was a former Trump Administration official.

The New York Post has continued to defend the story, claim “liberal media” are attempting to silence its efforts.
