Updated: Troopers seek suspects who tossed eggs at adults, kids attending GOP rally in Milltown


blankDelaware State Police have posted a photograph of a car suspected of being used in an egg-throwing incident at a political rally.

The rally by Trump supporters was held at the site of a closed restaurant at the busy intersection of Kirkwood Highway and Limestone Road west of Wilmington.

The incident occurred on Sunday at 1:02 p.m., outside now-closed Crossroads Restaurant.

Troopers learned that three juveniles ages 10, 7, and 5 and three adults ages 41, 44, and 70 were struck by raw eggs while attending the event.

The victims were standing on a concrete wall adjacent to westbound Kirkwood Highway attending the event when they were struck by eggs thrown by three male suspects hanging out of the window of a passing vehicle.

The suspects were described as males approximately 20-25 years old and operating a sports utility vehicle. The photo above did not match the original description of the vehicle.

The incident produced heated responses on social media, with the story making its way to The Blaze conservative websitewith GOP U.S. Senate candidate Lauren Witzke showing photos of the children hit by eggs.

Witzke Tuesday night won the nomination over the endorsed candidate of the GOP and will face incumbent Chris Coons.

The site also mentioned a previous incident at the Wilmington Riverfront that involved Trump caps being taken.

Others questioned having children in an area where eggs could be thrown as well as details of Witzke’s account.
