Scarborough named corporate communications chief at Chemours 

The Chemours Company, Wilmington, announced that Erich S. Parker, senior vice president, corporate communications and chief brand officer, has announced his intention to retire following a brief transition period. Effective October 1, Alvenia Scarborough, currently senior director, corporate communications and brand marketing, will be promoted to the role of senior vice president, corporate communications and chief brand officer.

Van Golden

Sophie Gan, CPA has joined WW&D’s audit and tax department as a Staff Accountant. Gan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a second major in Accounting from Washington University, College of Arts and Sciences in St. Louis and a Master of Accountancy from The George Washington University School of Business.

Prior to joining WW&D, Gan also completed her B.S. in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University College of Nursing before returning to accounting. Gan has diverse experience in not-for-profit, federal, and state and local tax.

Dalphon

Emma van Golen has joined WW&D’s audit and tax department as Staff Accountant. Van Golen is a recent graduate of University of Delaware where she earned a B.S. in Accounting and Marketing from the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics. While at University of Delaware, van Golen served as the Senior Editor for Her Campus, Treasurer of American Association of Women at UD, and Vice President of Puppy Raisers of the University of Delaware, The Seeing Eye.

Connor Dalphon has joined WW&D’s audit and tax department as Staff Accountant. Dalphon earned a B.S. in Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining WW&D, Dalphonworked as a Payroll and Billing Specialist in the healthcare industry.

Dover Motorsports, Inc. names Nashville president 

Erik Moses, a  sports executive and seasoned venue management leader, has been named president of Nashville Superspeedway, Dover Motorsports, Inc., officials announced. 

Moses, a longtime leader in mid-Atlantic sports and entertainment circles, most recently served as the founding president of the XFL’s DC Defenders (2019-20), where the team was in first place in the Eastern Division and ranked among the league’s best in ticket sales, game-day experience and social media engagement.

Moses, a graduate of the University of North Carolina and Duke University School of Law, is a member of the Washington Business Journal Leadership Trust.

Goodwill of Delaware announces Train to Gain staff

Goodwill of Delaware team announced the following staff members will work in its new Train to  Gain  program for individuals coming out of the criminal justice system and returning to the job market.

Veteran social services professional and seven year Goodwill of Delaware team member, Cheryl Casino, moved  into the role of Program Manager, leading the development and implementation of the Train to Gain adult training program.

Kenan Hilyard as a Workforce Initiative Support Specialist implementing the new Train to Gain program alongside Cheryl Casino. As a 2020 graduate of the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Hilyard is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in clinical psychology, also at the University of Delaware. 

Shirlene Davis serves as  Family Resource Coordinator for Goodwill’s Employment Supports Program, filling the role vacated by Casino. In this role Davis will provide intensive case management services to qualified individuals in New Castle County  to help them obtain employment, manage their personal finances, and secure a stable living environment. Davis is a 2017 graduate of Wilmington University with a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science.

Hollis

Hodgson Vo-Tech names principal

Hodgson Vo-Tech High School  announced that Rahsheem Hollis has been selected as a new assistant principal.

Hollis has 20 years of experience as an educator and has served in the NCC Vo-Tech School District since 2006 as a student advisor at Delcastle. Prior to that, he spent two years as the dean of students at Christiana High School. He was formerly an English teacher at George Read Middle School and a teacher and interim vice principal at a charter school in Philadelphia. 

Hollis earned a Masters of Education in both School Leadership and Applied Technology in Education from Wilmington University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cheyney University.​​​​​​​

Delaware Department of Correction promotions

The Delaware Department of Correction announced that Major Jon Beck, Security Superintendent of Sussex Correctional Institution (SCI) and a 25-year DOC veteran, has been appointed Deputy Warden of SCI.

  He earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justices from Delaware Technical Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree Summa Cum Laude from Wilmington University.

The Delaware Department of Correction (DOC) also announced that Sussex Correctional Institution (SCI) Captain Marvella Wise and James T. Vaughn Correctional Center (JTVCC) Staff Lieutenant Jason Schaffer have been promoted to the rank of Major at their respective facilities. 

In their new positions, Wise and  Schaffer will serve as a member of their Warden’s senior leadership team and as their facility’s Security Superintendent with day-to-day responsibility for maintaining safety and security for correctional officers, staff, and inmates.

Bigelow

Bigelow joins Thompson Island Brewing Co.

Lauren Bigelow has joined Thompson Island Brewing Company in Rehoboth Beach, one of SoDel Concepts’ 12 restaurants in Sussex County 

Bigelow, who has a craft beer background, will handle marketing and events for the brewpub. The Annapolis native previously worked at two Delaware breweries.

Patterson-Woods adds team member 

 Patterson-Woods welcomed Kyle McLaughlin to its  real estate team.

McLaughlin

McLaughlin’s background comes with more than 10 years of management, hospitality, and entrepreneurial experience. He started his career in construction and engineering for both large and small firms around the country.

He was drawn to the revitalization in downtown Wilmington, DE, where he helped to develop a new brewery from its inception. The brewery, Stitch House Brewery, is located on Market Street in downtown.

He most recently started a firm, Refresh Ventures, where he practices consulting in areas of business development, marketing, and research.  He is also currently an adjunct professor at the University of Delaware where he teaches entrepreneurship.

Kyle holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware and a Masters of Business Administration from Providence College
