Philadelphia has backed away from a quarantine order for Delaware residents, the Billy Penn website reported.

The city had imposed the order, apparently  due to Delaware’s infection rate, a metric that estimates the spread of the virus.

Delaware’s infection rate has led states stretching from New Jersey to Rhode Island to order travelers from the First State to quarantine for two weeks.

However, it became clear that the ban was not practical when it came to Philadelphia given the tens of thousands of commuters from the First State. New Jersey had earlier exempted commuters from its order.

Downtown Wilmington has sen a boomlet of apartment development with some younger people commuting to jobs in Philadelphia, sometimes via SEPTA service from the Wilmington Train Station.

Delaware has been more aggressive in reopening than Philadelphia, which is still offering outdoor only dining.

Delaware did not bolster its case on Friday by reporting another 120 coronavirus cases.
