Delaware has 2 coronavirus trials underway

Delaware is the site of two coronavirus trials. 

A report from the United States Chamber of Commerce listed  a trial at Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children covers 5,000 children and focuses on understudied drugs. The sponsor is Duke University.

Another trial from New Castle County-based ChristianaCare incudes its facilities as well as other health care centers in New Castle and Sussex County. The study centers on Covid-19 and cancer patients. The enrollment is 2,000. The sponsor is the National Cancer Institute. ChristianaCare is the state’s largest healthcare system.

The Chamber of Commerce reported that all 50 states have research programs tied to coronavirus.

An all-out effort to find treatments for Covid-19, including vaccines, are underway.

The U.S. government agreed to a nearly $2 billion deal for a vaccine from pharma giant Pfizer and a German company. A similar deal has been inked with the U.S. government, AstraZeneca and Oxford University.

AstraZeneca has offices and logistics facilities in Delaware.
