The Delaware Division of Small Business has launched a COVID-19 Customer Protection Standards program.

The idea came out of  11 virtual town halls in late April and early May. One of the concerns was that businesses are worried about customers feeling comfortable coming into their establishments, the division reported.

Based on the general guidelines for all businesses in the Phase 1 guidance released on May 15, the Division of Small Business along with the Division of Public Health developed the COVID-19 Customer Protection Standards.

Businesses following the standards (using the program checklist) can get a free window cling to put at their front entrance – one per location – as a way to show customers that they are working to follow the State’s safety guidelines, a release from the Small Business Division stated.

The COVID-19 Customer Protection Standards is a voluntary, self-reporting program and will not supplement or replace inspections at establishments such as restaurants.

How to participate:
  1. Download the 10-item checklist for businesses in all industries
  2. Put all 10 of the requirements in place at all of your business’s locations
  3. Check the boxes, email DSB (business@delaware.gov) a scan or photo with your business name & address
  4. Keep an eye on the mail for a window cling to put up at your business
