National Restoration held what it says is the first vehicle disinfection station Saturday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Fairfax Shopping Center, 2213 Concord Pike in north Wilmington.
The service is free for all police, fire, and ambulance vehicles, with 50 percent discounts to any vehicles owned by first responders, health care workers, and senior citizens. All other vehicles will be disinfected for $20 each.
Under Delaware law, out of state vehicles with a few exceptions, are barred from entering the state unless occupants undergo quarantine.
Over the past two weeks, National Restoration has donated its services to municipalities in South Jersey and Bucks County to disinfect police and fire vehicles. The company also has sent its Coronavirus Disinfection division to the Germantown section of Philadelphia and Wilmington to homeless shelters and a daycare center.
On Friday, the company donated its services to nearly completed new homes for low-income families in Salem County, NJ through Habitat for Humanity. More donated services are being scheduled.
The company, based near Wilmington has set up a coronavirus disinfection division, in addition to its services in fire, water, storm and mold damage, as well as biohazard and asbestos issues in homes and businesses.
It uses a cleaning method using the OROxyCdiff chemical additive.
The company stated that it will continue to provide free coronavirus disinfecting to ambulances and police vehicles in local municipalities where its services are being used.
The chemical is an EPA registered disinfectant, which also meets CDC recommendations.
It is commonly employed in hospitals to kill pathogens from growing and spreading infections. The company serves municipalities and businesses of all sizes through offices in New Jersey and Delaware.
