The Delaware DMV is asking motorists to not use inspection lanes for anything other than emergencies.
Those showing up at a lane without a legitimate emergency may be turned away.
The process for newer vehicles involves hooking up a monitoring device on the driver’s side of the vehicle, with the motorist getting out for a brief time.
Other DMV services are also on an emergency basis and by appointment
Due to the continued high volume of traffic coming through our Inspection lanes, we are once again asking customers that unless you have a legitimate emergency to please forgo our Inspection Lanes at this time. The DMV noted that motor vehicle inspection renewals have been extended and late fees have been waived until the health crisis ends.
