An Ellendale woman is facing numerous charges after two people were stuck by a vehicle in the Milford Walmart parking lot over the weekend.

On the afternoon of March, 7  officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division were called to the parking lot of the store on Route 113. They found two victims with serious injuries who were transported to the Bayhealth Sussex Campus in Milford.

The investigation indicated the vehicle reportedly accelerated prior to striking both victims and failed to stop after striking the two unidentified victims. Neither victim is believed to have been known by the defendant in this case.

The suspect vehicle was later found unoccupied in a nearby parking lot.

Further investigation identified the driver as Kala I. Fluitt, 23 of Ellendale. Fluitt was taken into custody on March 8  at her residence in Ellendale without incident.

She faces numerous charges.  Fluitt was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7, where bail was set at $81,350.00 secured. Fluitt is in the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction and is currently being held at the Delores J. Baylor  Women’s Correctional Institution, New Castle, police reported.
