Seven injured in Bear house fire

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is currently investigating a Saturday night fire Bear that injured seven people, two critically.

The blaze reported shortly before midnight occurred in the unit block of Barrister Court in the Buckley development in the area of the Texas Roadhouse and Dairy Queen, east of Routes 40 and 7.

 The Christiana Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames engulfing a two-story house and found several injured occupants.  Emergency medical teams along with the New Castle County paramedics treated the injured persons and transported all victims to the Christiana Hospital.  Two occupants are in critical condition.  Five other victims are in good condition.

This fire remains under investigation The injured individuals, a 78-year-old male resident and a 73-year-old female resident, remain in critical condition at the Crozer Hospital in Upland, PA.  All other victims were treated and released from the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room on March 1.

Fire investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and New Castle County police detectives are assisting the State Fire Marshal’s office with this investigation.  This is normal practice and does not indicate any crime has occurred.

Damage is estimated at $300,000.
