Costco and BJ’s warehouse clubs set aside hours for members 60 and over

Costco and BJ’s Wholesale Club have announced special hours for customers 60 and over.

BJ’s will have a designated shopping hour every day of the week for members 60 and over. BJ’s has five locations in Delaware.

Costco will offer an hour for its over-60 members two days a week.  (See social media posts below).

Sam’s Wholesale Club, which has a location in Dover, has made no announcement on special hours. Sam’s owned by Walmart.

Walmart is setting aside the hour before its stores open on Tuesdays for those 60 and over.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have advised seniors to stay home as much as possible, due to the greater possibility of complications should they contract the virus.

Wholesale clubs have seen a surge in business as restrictions spread due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The clubs offer large quantities of items for members who are stocking up. A side effect has been large crowds. Stores have been making efforts to control crowding.

Costco, which normally has a generous return policy, has tightened the rules after runs on toilet paper and other household items.
