Coronavirus news update: YMCAs closes all locations, Dover NASCAR races postponed, Biden Welcome Center closes, DMV ends Wed. night hours

As the YMCA of Delaware has decided to close all YMCA of Delaware locations temporarily effective at 8:00 p.m. tonight.
,”We will continue to monitor the situation and plan to reopen on Wednesday, April 1st. Members can visit for the most current information,” 
The decision was made in accordance with the guidelines from elected officials, public health authorities, and local school districts as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic unfolds locally, nationally and internationally.

Dover Raceway postpones May NASCAR weekend

Dover International Raceway has postponed its May 1-3 NASCAR weekend. The weekend features three races.

It is one of two NASCAR. weekends held at the track in north Dover. The next NACAR weekend is in August.

Track President Mike Tatoian said policies ticket and other matters related to the postponement will be announced in the coming days.

Biden Welcome Center closes

The Biden Welcome Center on I-95 in Newark will temporarily close to the public as efforts continue to limit crowds as a way to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

Fuel will still be available at the gas station located on the north side of the property and bathroom facilities in the convenience store will also be available to motorists. The stand-alone Starbucks will continue to offer a full menu for drive-thru customers only.

No Wednesday night hours for DMV offices

At   DMV locations, effective tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18, business hours for Wednesdays will change to 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and there will be no evening hours to eliminate the possibility of overcrowding in the evening hours for the next two weeks. This may be extended and further changes may be implemented depending upon the status of the pandemic event.
