Governor John Carney authorized all meetings of public bodies to be conducted electronically until further notice.
Governor Carney on Thursday issued a State of Emergency declaration to prepare for the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). The emergency declaration allows the State of Delaware executive branch agencies to conduct public meetings electronically to prevent unnecessary public gatherings.
Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach had already taken steps to bar the public from attending council/commission meetings. That left open the question of whether it was advisable for council members or in the case of Rehoboth commissioners to meet in person.
This proclamation expands the authorization to include all public bodies throughout the state.
