The Wilmington dining scene is getting some overdue attention.

A post on The website from widely read Food and Wine Magazine highlighted the makeover of the Green Room at the Hotel DuPont and new chef Tyler Akin, who grew up in northern Delaware and has a  couple of restaurants in Philadelphia that have generated buzz in that crowded dining scene.

Also mentioned were Torbert Street Social, the DeCo food hall in the Hotel DuPont and the pizza outpost at DeCo from the critically acclaimed Bardea on Market Street.

All Delaware shops will have officially launched the new menu by February 18.

Capriotti’s fans  can now also enjoy the BBQ Chicken Cheese Steak, Grilled Chicken Parm Cheese Steak, Chicken Chipotle Crunch Cheese Steak and the latest collaboration with Impossible Foods, the Impossible Cheesesteak.

Capriotti’s is changing up its sizes to fit the lifestyles and changing eating patterns of its loyal fans. The new-sized sandwiches will come in a 5-inch half sub, an 8-inch, a 10-inch and an 18-inch sub offering.

The large sizes are a legacy of the company’s roots in Delaware. Like neighbors in  Philadelphia, some First Staters like a larger roll. Out west, lighter fare is sometimes preferred.

“At Capriotti’s, we understand that the needs and lifestyles of our fans have changed over time, so it’s important that we grow along with them,” said Ashley Morris, CEO of Las Vegas-based Capriotti’s. “For more than 40 years, Capriotti’s has been an integral part of the Delaware community. We’ve listened to the influx of feedback and requests from the fans who have been with us since the beginning and are thrilled to share new options, built on tradition, with the community.”

At the end of 2019, Capriotti’s, in partnership with plant-based Impossible Foods, tested the Impossible Cheese Steak at select locations throughout Las Vegas.

Capriotti’s also has plans to launch an Impossible Meatball sandwich in 2020.

The company’s top sandwich remains the Bobbie  which was created at the original location in Wilmington’s Little Italy neighborhood contains, freshly roasted, hand-shredded turkey as well as a touch of stuffing and mayo.

Versions of the Bobbie are also available at other Delaware sub shops.
