Bill that raises minimum figure for vehicle accident police reports clears committee


A bill that would sharply raises the minimum damage figure required for police reports of vehicle accidents cleared committee

House Bill 281 was introduced by House Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach and has co-sponsors from both parties.

The bill increases the minimum amount of property damage that triggers the mandatory reporting of a vehicular collision to police from $500 to $2,000.

The bill also increases the minimum amount of property damage requiring police agencies to investigate from $1,000 to $2,000.

This increase puts Delaware in line with other states.
